Our customers spoke. We listened. The current models represent the third generation of response pads in this series. Nearly all the improvements are based on customer feedback. The result is high quality, ergonomic, and practical response pads.
The RB Series models are smart devices. They measure the participant's reaction time in hardware and provide additional timing facilities for the stimulus presentation program. In addition, these models are fairly universal, meaning that they are compatible with nearly all the leading stimulus presentation programs on the market.
Psychological test
The RB-530 provides five keys and is ideally suited for experiments involving spatial orientation (as is the RB-834 model). The keys are large and feature removable key tops (except for the center round key). The following photo shows an RB-530 pad with the colored tops (included free) installed. The pad ships also with four clear key tops so you can insert any legend or color paper.

The RB-730 provides seven keys laid out in a straight line. The keys are slightly wider than the typical keyboard key and feature removable key tops. The RB-830 was designed to allow eight fingers to rest comfortably and simultaneously on the keys. A lot of care was taken in the design of this model, including the position of the keys and the use of custom-built ergonomic plastic caps.

The RB-834 features the largest buttons of any response pad on the market. It is ideally suited for experiments involving spatial orientation (as is the RB-530 model) or where it would be helpful if the participants used large keys.

Resolution: Cedrus' response pads offer 1 millisecond reaction time resolution. By contrast, the Mac keyboard (pre iMac) offers 4 milliseconds or (iMacs and later) 16.6 milliseconds. The PCs' resolution ranges between 20 and 35 milliseconds.
Simplicity: A typical keyboard has 105 keys. This can be confusing to participants -- they spend so much time looking for the correct key that the reaction time becomes meaningless. This factor is particularly important for certain groups such as participants with Alzheimer's Disease, children, and computer illiterates.
Customizable: The color of the keys on the RB Series can customized using the Keycap Kit. This makes it even easier for participants to follow instructions (e.g. press green key if correct or red if incorrect).
